What we've been up to

Yeah, I know I haven't blogged in more than a month. Sorry! So to sum it up:

1.) Memorial Day was great! We had Matthew's parents down from Indiana and his sister and we ate good food! We bought a gas grill for the very first time. We were very excited about that because Matt has been wanting one for a long time!

2.) Jared's birthday was wonderful. We had a cake and he received a baby pool and a water boat with water toys for the tub/pool. Happy first birthday!

3.) Kaylee thought it would be fun to jump off the back of the sofa and break her arm! Her cast comes off TOMORROW! YES! She's had it for a month now. She broke her bones below and above her elbow so she has a cast pretty much to her armpit.

4.) We bought a pool pass to the 4 pools in Olathe. It has been so fun!

5.) James and Jonah finished baseball last week. They had a very good season and each received a trophy. The coach thought they were both really good and he'd point out the good things they did and tell the rest of the team how they should watch them. He asked both the boys to be on his team for Fall baseball and then again next summer, so we are thinking about it. The coach is very good with the children even if he seems like he lives a very "fun" life. :)

6.) My parents came up from Texas 2 weeks ago and spent a week visiting. It was fun to have them around and my 13 year old brother played with our kids all week. We ate at this Dinosaur restaurant similar to the Rainforest Cafe (owned by the same people) and the dinosaurs would roar and move and as we were eating we were surrounded by everything. It was loud and FUN! Our kids loved it.

7.) We just got back from a fun weekend in Iowa for the 4th of July spending time with Matt's very young Aunt Wendy who has kids James and Jonah's age. They had fun playing and Kaylee made a best friend with their daughter. We had a mini Burk family reunion. Did I mention they live in the country? Seriously. It is beautiful being surrounded by miles and miles of rolling fields and the occasional barn and farmhouse in the far distance. Matt shot off fireworks. Luckily it stopped raining by evening so we could go outside! We had to borrow jackets because it was so cold! Oh, and did I mention the closest town has a small Emergency Room? How do I know that? Because Jared had an ear infection and we had to take him in to get medicine on the 4th of July!!! The doctor told us he might need tubes due to the 4 ear infections he's had in 7 months.

I will post pictures of all these fun things next time I get a chance!
