Jayce Eduard Burk was born 7 weeks ago (I know, I haven't blogged in like a year! I need to get better!) on January 30th at 1:00 in the morning. He weighed 6 lb 2oz and was 21 inches long. I was at the hospital Sunday to be induced and they gave me Cervadil and that made me have the most terrible, terrible contractions that were 40 seconds long every minute, so I had 20 seconds to take a breather before I was up again. After 7 hours of this I told the nurses I had had enough and to give me an epidural. I hadn't had one since James (my first) and I had been afraid of them ever since, but I just didn't want to feel horrible anymore, especially since this was our last and I wanted it to be a good experience.
So I was at a 5 when the anesthesiologist
came in and made me sit up to get the epidural. When he was halfway through I felt Jayce drop and I was about to tell him to stop but I figured I might as well go through with it. After he left the room I let the nurses know I needed to push NOW and they had these shocked looks on their faces and they kept saying, "We just checked you!" So they checked again and I was at a 10 and ready to go! The doctor was called and took about 20 minutes to get to the hospital. I don't know how many of you ladies had to not push for 20 minutes, so let me just tell you it isn't fun at all!! I'm lucky the epidural was working or else it would have been even more miserable. I would have just pushed and not waited for the doctor. So that is the story of his birth. He is such a sweet little boy. Every time I look at him he makes me feel so happy to be his Mother.
